In the April 6, 2015 edition of the Legal Intelligencer, an article by Gabriel Roberts featured Philadelphia’s Juvenile Human Trafficking Court. The Court is one of the city’s latest innovative efforts to confront sex trafficking. Advisory Board Members Family Court Judge Lori A. Dumas and Jamie Manirakiza, Director of anti-trafficking and social services at the Salvation Army, were interviewed for the article. Ms. Manirakiza works alongside Judge Dumas in the specialty Court to ensure that victims receive comprehensive services tailored to their own situations.
The article highlighted Ms. Manirakiza’s resolute motivation to assist this population and her commitment to a holistic approach toward victim rehabilitation. While the Court focuses on addressing each victim’s basic and urgent needs, Judge Dumas is already considering the program’s sustainability and planning for more collaboration. Her team is “working feverishly to create a system around the court; solidifying the process… so that the process can continue and get better,” she said.
We thank you both for all that you do!
