Each year we host our Survivor-Led Symposium in order for the professional community to learn from the survivor community. It is only through input and collaboration with survivor leaders, that professional allies – law enforcement, attorneys, social workers, judges, legislators, medical providers, and concerned citizens – will be effective in combatting commercial sexual exploitation. Symposium participants are provided with an opportunity to gather the most relevant information by attending workshops and developing an action plan they can take back to their respective work spaces. We believe that cultural competence and victim-centered practices can only be learned through engagement and listening to survivors. The 2019 symposium took place at The Inn at Villanova, April 11 & 12th, and was titled, “Engaging Survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation to End Gender-Based Violence“.
