CSE Institute Welcomes Spring 2018 Student Externs

Posted: February 26, 2018

CSE Institute Director, Shea M. Rhodes, and Faculty Advisor, Michelle M. Dempsey, are excited to welcome seven student externs as part of the CSE Institute for the Spring 2018 Semester. This is third-year student, Kaitlyn Macaulay’s, second semester at the CSE Institute. She will play a more advanced roll this semester by assisting our Justice for Victims Fellow, Sarah Robinson, in conducting research on how to use vacatur laws to achieve post-conviction relief for human trafficking survivors.

Ms. Macaulay will be joined by six new student externs, Sarah Baranik, ‘19, Omeed Firouzi, ‘18, Kavida Gobalasingham, ‘18, Molly Krebs, ‘19, Stephanie Mersch, ‘19, and Kimberly Price, ‘18. Our new externs will further the mission of the CSE Institute by researching policies concerning commercial sexual exploitation, keeping track of human trafficking convictions in Pennsylvania, analyzing the human trafficking laws of other states, drafting news articles for the CSE Institute website, as well as a variety of other projects aimed at eradicating commercial sexual exploitation in the commonwealth and beyond. Our externs will also play pivotal roles in gathering and creating content for our third Annual Report on Sexual Exploitation in Pennsylvania, which will be released in May of this year. Finally, the externs will aid in assuring that our Second Annual Survivor Symposium, to take place on April 5th and 6th of this year, is even more successful than our first.

Please join us in welcoming our new externs to The CSE Institute!
