To commemorate National Human Trafficking Awareness Day tomorrow, January 11th, Shared Hope International and the National Children’s Alliance are hosting “Justice for Juveniles” – a Congressional Briefing to discuss non-criminalization policies for minor victims of sex trafficking.
The Briefing will convene at 10:30am on Capitol Hill and will feature a discussion moderated by Withelma “T” Ortiz Walker Pettigrew, a National Survivor Advocate. Field experts Susan Goldfarb, Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Suffolk County, Michelle Guymon, Director of Child Trafficking Unit in the Los Angeles County Probation Department and Marian Hatcher, Human Trafficking Coordinator for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office will be featured on the discussion panel. Other speakers include representatives from both hosting organizations, the SEEN Coalition, and the Victims Rights Caucus.
In addition, Shared Hope International will release its highly-anticipated field guidance policy paper: “Justice for Juveniles: Exploring Non-Criminal Response Mechanisms for Juvenile Sex Trafficking Victims.”
The Briefing will be broadcast on the web at sharehope.org/justresponse. We hope you tune in to this important event and learn more about the shifting policies across the nation.
