On Friday, February 3, 2017, Wayne County sex trafficker Noel Brown was sentenced to the maximum penalty of 15 to 32 years in Pennsylvania state prison for trafficking a minor and other related crimes he committed. Brown was also judicially determined to be a “sexually violent predator” and must register as a sex offender for life.
Brown was convicted by a jury on November 8, 2016 on charges of human trafficking in minors (a felony in the first degree), interference with child custody (a felony in the second degree), dissemination of child pornography (a felony in the second degree), corruption of a minor (a felony in the third degree), and furnishing liquor to a minor (a misdemeanor in the third degree.).
Judge Raymond L. Hamill handed down the sentence, which Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards called, “100 percent appropriate,” given the appalling conduct and circumstances in this case.
The CSE Institute congratulates District Attorney Edwards on this successful prosecution of a child sex trafficker, who will be behind bars for decades. Brown was the fourth person to be convicted under Act 105, Pennsylvania’s comprehensive human trafficking statute.
