On April 24, 2015, CSE Institute Director, Shea Rhodes and Hon. Lori Dumas, member of the CSE Board of Advisors were awarded by the Philadelphia Coalition for Victim Advocacy’s (“PCVA”) for their tireless work on behalf of crime victims. PCVA works to improve victim rights and increase public awareness of crime victim issues.
Ms. Rhodes’ was awarded the “Volunteer Award” for her work assisting victims of human trafficking in both her handling of pro bono cases and assistance in the creation of Project Dawn Court, Dawn’s Place, and WRAP Court, Philadelphia’s Juvenile Human Trafficking Court. Ms. Rhodes has also been instrumental in training law enforcement, social workers, and the community on how to identify, assist, and protect victims of human trafficking through the application of Act 105, Pennsylvania’s recently enacted anti-trafficking legislation.
Judge Dumas was awarded the “Judicial Court Award” in acknowledgement for her unwavering support of crime victims and her innovative leadership in addressing juvenile sex trafficking in Philadelphia. (Judge Dumas was also recently awarded the Innovator of the Year by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the prestigious Women’s Way Powerful Voice Award.)
